Afternoon Cream Tea at Margot May Tearoom

Afternoon Cream Tea at Margot May Tearoom

I just had to write a tribute post to Margot May tearoom in Bristol. I had walked past it a few times and browsed the yelp reviews, but today I finally decided to go inside! Luckily they welcomed Stanley (my chihuahua) in the tearoom and even offered him some water. I ordered a cream tea, which includes a scone, choice of a local jam, English clotted cream, and a pot of freshly brewed loose leaf tea. I chose strawberry jam and ceylon tea, which I had never tried before. Ceylon is a Sri Lankan tea the is very light and refreshing with a hint of florals, it was recommended by the server as a nice pairing with scones. I sat down at one of the cute little white wooden tables on a cushioned bench along the wall and waited for my treat. My tea was served in fine china long with milk and sugar cubes. I felt so elegant and dainty while eating! Stanley was very well behaved and stayed by my side on the bench. A few of the other women in the room gave Stanley some pets and complimented his charming personality ;). I learned that pets are referred to as "fur babies" in England, too! Everyone in the room was so friendly. All were women, most seated alone drinking tea and reading a magazine or book. Though all women came to the tearoom alone, they casually socialized and welcomed new arrivals. I still can't get over how friendly and polite everyone is here! Lucky for me, Margot May Tearoom is just a few blocks from our new house, I think I'll be visiting again soon! And lucky for my wallet, a cream tea only costs £4.50! I see many cream teas in my future...
